Which of the following is not a function of the liver in adults?

A. Make red blood cells
B. Produce urea
C. Store Urea
D. Produce Bile

The liver is an organ of the digestive system which detoxifies various metabolites, synthesizes proteins, and produces biochemicals necessary for digestion and growth.

It produces bile, an alkaline fluid containing cholesterol and bile acids, which helps the breakdown of fat. It also produces several chemicals (enzymes) that change ammonia(NH3) into a form called urea, which the body can remove in the urine.

As we know that bone marrow produces all the RBC in our body, hence the liver does not make red blood cells.

So option A is the correct answer.

i.e., A. Make red blood cells
